    SUMMARY:
    - Modern clothes manufacturers have taken up on micro trends. New fashionable items appear in stores almost every week, so you want more and spend more.
    - Sometimes, large brands create clothes made with well-known designers. Their aim is to make customers pay more for exclusive items.
    - Clothes manufacturing involves chemicals that can’t be identified without proper lab testing.
    - The customer thinks that a cotton or woolen blouse isn’t that expensive compared to a synthetic one and buys it without a second thought.
    - Lux brands often make items from cheap materials specifically for outlets to receive income from those who can’t afford their clothes in expensive boutiques.
    - Our parents have left us things that we can still wear. Today’s clothes, however, are often of poor quality.
    - Sometimes, stores artificially raise the prices just before the sale to announce it later and attract customers.
    - Different manufacturers have different size scales. Therefore, you’ll be able to fit into a small item in one store yet hardly be able to squeeze yourself into a medium in another.

      missnicky20 . You are right, and also employees rather spend time fixing full price items than clearance. After all it is BUSINESS !...they get more profit from full price.

      Same thing here....I've worked in retail as well and this is definitely not on purpose...its only because there is not enough staff and time to keep arranging the clothes + the customers are very messy and do not care about folding it back properly!

    I've worked in retail for years and #7 is false. Ive worked cashier and on the floor and we don't purposely put the clothes on Sale all scattered, it gets that way because people tend to shop there the most and... customers don't put things back neatly, they expect the employee to do it because "it's our job" which is... but people are still messy, that's just an excuse

    • @BlooWolfy
      @BlooWolfy 6 лет назад +6

      EXACTLY. Cleaning the other (full price)sections are prioritized over sale since we will get more for those clothes rather then sale. If the other sections are cleaned (clothing not on the floor, flung over random racks or the tables have noticeable stacks of the same item not all mixed together) then we move over to sale.

    i work in retail and for us the reason the sales area is always messy is because more people shop the sales than the rest of the store and its harder to clean it when there are so many people shopping there. do you know how much time we would save at the end of the night if we could clean the sales area during store hours and we would be able to go home earlier. saying it's done on purpose is complete bs

    My sales section is messy because I don't see the need to clean it all the time because it's just going to get messed up again. People are way messier with the clearance racks than they are with the other merchandise.

      There are many manufactures that make nice clothes, LL Bean, Land's End, Duluth Trading, to name a few. You might pay a little more, but it is worth it and they tend to be styled more classic so they aren't out of fashion in a season or even a year.

    I'm pretty sure that not even shop assistants know half of these. The sales section is a mess because customers are a mess. My old manager was always telling us to tidy up the clearance because you can't sell something if no one can see it. I'm not sure what exactly qualifies something as a boutique, but I had clothes last longer from a Fred Meyer's than from small, clothes-only-item stores. I had two retail jobs, one was a big company and one was a little sister company and neither of them increased prices just to lower them on the day of the sale. Prices (at least in my experience,) would decrease to make room for new items that were coming in or if that item wasn't selling as well.

  • @emayaych

    Sales associates have no idea what chemicals are used in/on clothing nor are they notified. Neither does management in the store. That information could only come from the manufacturer. Please don't assume the sales people are withholding information when they don't have access to that information in the first place.

  • @emayaych
    @emayaych 6 лет назад +26

    The fact that sizing depends on the brand should be obvious but it's a lie that associates don't inform customers. I tell people that all the time and I know my coworkers do the same. We make it a habit to know even if we don't wear those items at all. Not to mention it is very well known that sizes vary from country to country, brand to brand, style to style, trend to trend, designer to designer, even within a store. I really thought everyone knew that by now. Vanity sizing anyone. Heck, I knew that before I started working in retail. I learned from the experience of shopping for clothes as a woman that sizes mean nothing because it's all about the fit.

  • @systematic101
    @systematic101 7 лет назад +25

    I use sales to my advantage. I find what I want. Then monitor it until it goes on sale. I know what the original price was so I know if the sale price is an actual sale. That's how I was able to call 1 store out on their raising the price before the sale tactic.

  • @ingridnineteen5566
    @ingridnineteen5566 6 лет назад +104

    I'm a sales associate and the clearance section is not kept messy on purpose, it just gets messy cos customers make it that way and depending on how busy we are it may take us a bit to clean it up. Also the reason for sales at a lot of stores is just to get rid of the old merchandise to make room for new merchandise, typically they are not trying to scam you. Rn we have buy 1 get 4 free on our clearance shirts cos they need to go, lol. And the sizing thing is extremely annoying, I don't think any woman appreciates it so I do wish they would stop vanity sizing things cos all it causes is making our shopping experience more frustrating than necessary.

      Also use fabric softener when washing anything but towels. The combination of acidic and alkaline in the soaps and fabric softeners are incredibly important for removing stains especially on woolens.

    The sales section in any, retail/grocery, place that I have worked has ever been a mess on purpose. Typically it is the rude customers(not all, just the select jerks who feel entitled) who have the mentality of "well it's their job to pick it up, not mine" and toss things around.

    @kaidennis8426 6 лет назад +2

  • @OdieoGreenen88

    OMG! This so ridiculous! Without collaboration designers would starve! The sales section looks messy after customers destroy it while shopping( challenge: fold any table with a big sign on it walk away and come back 1 hrs later it's awful). Those chemicals keep lice, mold, and other creatures from inhabiting the clothes!! You're supposed to wash and then wear even homemade clothing!! Natural fibers are more expensive than synthetic, with the advent of recycled clothing from recycled materials. Discount retailers place orders with major brands those brands dish out their best to their own stores then serve the rest of the D.R. with leftovers. Of course clothing is less high quality then our parents we use cheap materials and pay cheaply for them and thusly have cheap clothes that last a season " You get what you pay for" and you can't blame stores for Impulse shoppers and poor choices of adults. This is the result of Buyer's not Sellers. They meet Your demands!!

    I'm sorry, #7 is bullsh*t. Us sales associates have to start the day off with a tidy store, and throughout the day customers tend to ransack the sales section, leaving it a mess and disorderly. We attempt to tidy it every hour (if not sooner) after making our rounds (cashier, floor clean up, dressing rooms, stocking the back, etc.) but it's hard to keep something that's constantly being raided by discount-desperate women, tidy.

    • @isabeldiaz9717

      Gabriella Borges is it being a discount desperate woman is a bad thing? And do you think these women are the messy ones? Natural fabrics usually last a lot longer than synthetic fabrics if the material has been taken well care of. Natural fabrics are also a lot more comfortable and don't itch as much as synthetic materials do, which is why we want it more than the synthetic material does. Cotton especially is a limited source of fabric, but because it's so comfortable we want more of it, but we're running low on cotton which is why it's a good thing for it to be more expensive.

    This is why I love working at Cato Fashions 😂 we’re honest and actually love helping people with what they need and what they’re looking for. We never have sales, just clearance items (based off of how well it is selling and how long it has been there). And also, anything that stays in the store too long and zeros out, is donated to charity. The store I work at donates it to a battered women’s shelter. Also, all of our jewelry is nickel free, so this girl can wear anything despite my sensitivity 😊 Love Bright Side

      I worked for a while in the warehouse of a designer brand - before major department store sales we'd be packing brand new stock with markdown labels into boxes for delivery. Same stuff that the week before was full price. Also worked in a department store where the post-Christmas sale meant bringing out storerooms worth of older (and I mean seriously seasons past) stock. There's a bit of both with the bigger stores. Smaller ones don't have the luxury of space or buying power so it's just on sale to clear it.

    As a sales assistant in a clothing department for the past 2 years I can tell you that sale areas get messy because customers are lazy and can't figure out how to put things back on a hanger, trust me I've had them look directly at me and just dump it over the rack or on the floor. Sales are to move the trends and seasons along, when a new 'season' is coming in store things go on sale to make room for the new items within the full priced area, also the sale areas in the store I work in are put in size order on a regular basis to help the customer shop through it easier and for us to put it back where it should be.

      How exactly can they check #2? And the problem with #6 is that we often don't know which chemicals are dangerous (to know that you would have to check them on a large sample of people). It is not like these chemicals are concentrated acid and people can be sick from stuff considered 'safe', that's the problem.

    I avoid messy clearance areas of stores. They usually are a waste of time. I do pay attention to stores I like, or areas of department stores, and buy later in the season. Avoiding weekends and major holidays saves time and money as well. Also be genuinely nice to sales clerks, sometimes they will give you a discount or let you know if your item is about to go on sale.

    Permanent marker on skin (because kids do draw on each other and give each other "tattoos") can be removed with rubbing alcohol. However, dont do it in mass amounts or you can cause dry skin.
    If you have an alcohol based lotion (normally a cheap hand lotion) and you get permanent marker on a hard cover book or other hard object, it can remove it as well (My sister accidently did this once while drawing on a book cover. It bled through so I found the least harmful way. Straight rubbing alcohol will remove ink from the book so stick with lotion.)

    for shoelaces with plastic aglets, tying a knot at the end will prevent fraying beyond the knot after the aglet is removed. the question then becomes when to do it, though, as if you need to re-lace, you either need to cut off the knot or undo the knot.

    Even the same brand clothes also vary in size depending upon the outlet. Similar case happened with me I bought a top of honey brand from pantaloons bhubneswar India of size L which was a little loose for me but when I tried the exact same top of size XL from my home town branch of pantaloons it fitted me properly

    Use bubble bath on fresh stains in clothes. Apply it before putting the stained garment in the laundry hamper to let it work. The stain should then come out in the wash. Also, bubble bath can work on stains in rugs or carpets.

    Do you have any mail order shopping hacks?
    I worked for the city where I live; the ladies I worked with used hair spray on white blouses with ink on them - like using hand sanitizer. You're after the alcohol that's doing the job. Use carefully or the stain may spread; you might want to put the alcohol on a tissue or a paper towel. You can also put a tissue wax or paper towel wzd just under the area of the stain t [ keep the stain contained.i

    Don't wash too often, and follow the directions on the tags. A lot of my friends complain their clothes don't last long. The first thing I ask is how they wash them. I have clothes from ten years ago that still look brand new, not only from washing accordingly, but also, as long as you're not sweating, you can get away with letting them air out before putting them up. That doesn't go for everything, obviously, and depending on the item, you can do it up to 3 or 4 times.

    I love the people who take something from a rack only to put it back, backwards. And at the front.
    Makes me face palm every time.
    Or the one person look at the first P/S, and assuming everything behind it must be petite. I actually had one woman ask why the seemed to only have small petites, and why they were all before regular clothes.
    She's an extreme idiotic example of what sales associates have to put up with daily.
    People complaining about this or that being made in china, ect, or the price, or that there's only one article left that isn't in their size.
    The countless coats left unbuttoned or unzipped, even if put back correctly (by some miracle).
    Bras.....are NEVER put back right, despite the fact the guest had to have taken them off a hanger or walked past a dozen others on a hanger.
    So, no, a place isn't messy ON PURPOSE.

    Okay this video lies about a lot of things.
    For starters, the sale section is a collection of items that are older and still not moving, due to this there aren’t full size runs that are still being restocked, like the “neater looking” ones you see in the rest of the store. Also, people hungry for a sale are a little less neat about how they shop, often they don’t let you help find something so it’s MUCH messier because they aren’t refolding that Jean that isn’t nearly as cute as they prayed it would be even though it’s only $8 now. Second, I’ve literally never raised the price of an item... like??? The item gets sent to me with a pre printed price on it? And then I sell it that way? And when it goes on sale (but not marked down) it just is on sale from that original price. And when it’s marked down it’s marked DOWN and then on sale from the marked down price.

  • @ClawedImperial

    Number 7 is dead wrong. I used to work in a clothing store and the mess was from customers digging through neatly folded or neatly hanging clothing to find something they liked. It wasn't intentional and we always had to clean up the sales floor and make it neat again.

    The clearance section is probably a mess because people will avoid it because it's easier to look through a neat section (aka where the full-priced stuff is). Therefore, people will spend money on the full-priced clothes since it's easier to sift through an organized area.

    Polyester tends to cling to the body. If you want to get rid of static cling rub the clothing down with a fabric softener cloth.
    Also a temporary fix: if you end up losing a button on your jacket all you need is two safety pins, one where you don't have a button and where the slit is. Always thread the pin so the clasp is on the inside of your jacket and then thread the pin at slit. Using the pin at the slit to unbutton and button the jacket. Same idea with pants.

    • @LibraNYC4ever
      @LibraNYC4ever 6 лет назад

      Also if the clothing item is a non iron do not under any circumstance dry clean that button down shirt. if you do it will lose the non iron quality because of how the cotton's treated.
      Wash your jeans inside out and in cold water so you don't lose color and use fabric softener as it helps protect the cotton fibers. Always tumble dry low for no more than 20 minutes the longer you dry cotton it weakens the fibers from shrinking.
      If you have a wool sweater don't dry clean it often because the more you dryclean it over time it will shrink what you want to do is wash it gentle cycle in cold water with woolite and stretch it out and dry laying it flat on a hanger.
      In order to help your real fur sweater, mittens or your muffs not lose the fur put the clothing item into a plastic bag and stick it in the freezer and when you want to wear it out then wear it. The dry cold low humidity helps the fur to not shed.
      I work in retail and this is what we recommend to our customers so that they don't ruin their clothes.
